5 Women Who Have Nailed Their Personal Branding
In the world of aimless scrolling, influencers, carbon-copy-cats and being absolutely spoiled for choice, it takes something special to stand out among all the noise.
You essentially have about five seconds to grab people’s attention before they swipe right on you and you disappear into newsfeed purgatory forever.
So what does it take to capture the interest of your audience and consistently keep them coming back for more? NAILING your personal brand!
A good personal brand is the difference between STANDING OUT - being seen as the ‘go-to-girl’ whenever someone brings to mind what you’re known for - and falling between the cracks and being forgotten about.
Today I want to share with you 5 women who have absolutely nailed their personal branding to get you inspired and lit up about creating your own unique AF brand!
5 Women who have Absolutely Nailed their Personal Branding
Lady Gaga
For reals, I could just drop this name and say no more because we’ve all heard of Lady Gaga - even those of us living off the grid or in a cupboard under the stairs lol. Stephanie Germanotta became the name on everyone’s lips by creating a larger than life persona, Lady Gaga. She consistently pushed boundaries, did whatever the F she pleased and continued to push said boundaries until it was totally kosher for her to show up wearing a literal meat suit to an awards night… by that point, everyone was all “just Lady G being Lady G, ain’t nothing to see here”.
She marched to the beat of her own weird drum and made a name for herself with drag-queen-esque outfits, a unique sound and a complete commitment to her FULLY embodying her persona and playing the role at all times until it was well established. Lady Gaga’s personal brand continues to morph and change like a chameleon as her career progresses, which keeps her fresh and relevant instead of becoming a washed up 1 hit wonder.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande is one artist who totally NAILED her rebrand and is the perfect example of how you can freshen and transform your identity and public persona - and all through something as seemingly simple as the height of your iconic ponytail. She is also a symbol for standing the fuck up for what you believe in as part of your personal brand, even if it loses you some fans - whether that be refusing to be identified as someone’s ex, unicorn emojis or marching for equal rights.
Miley Cyrus
Love her, hate her, everyone’s heard of Miley and can never look at a construction site or a wrecking ball again without imagining Miley riding on by - or is that just me?
Miley has been through quite a few phases in her personal brand over her career, transforming (someone shockingly) from the sweet, idol of tweens alter ego Hannah Montana to the Miley tongue out, twerking her little heart out virtually naked in the MTV music awards. Well hey, guess Miley isn’t a kid anymore (and I can never burn that visual out of my mind, ooft). Miley fought to be seen differently and break the mould of what people associated her with, and it paid off. She was able to completely rebrand herself - controversially AF - rejuvenate her career and avoid joining the rest of the former child stars in the line at the soup kitchen.
Kylie Jenner
Another love-hate relationship the world has is with the Kardashian family, and Kylie Jenner is one Kardashian who succeeded in spring-boarding off Kimmy K’s fame to pave her own way as an influencer and personal brand.
Growing up on camera from a young age, Kylie had to rebrand herself from ‘the sweet little kid sister’ to being seen as an icon, a brand and an identity all on her own. There’s a reason why teenagers all over the globe were sucking on bottles until their lips blew up - thank god that trend is over - and you’ve gotta thank Kylie for that one.
Whenever one brings duck lips to mind, they’re instantly associated with Kylie. That simple association made her millions and had fans lining up for days to buy her lipstick. Ridiculous, or absolutely nailing your personal branding? I’ll leave that up to you to decide - but I’m sure Kylie’s not losing sleep over it as she counts her dolla dolla billz.
Cara Alwill
Cara Alwill made a name for herself in the personal development, entrepreneurship and feminine empowerment space as the larger than life, effervescent persona that encourages women to live their freakin lives and celebrate with champagne on the reg. Creator of the Champagne Diet Blog, with over 6 million listeners worldwide tuning into her “Style Your Mind” podcast, Cara’s fame is a direct result of her IDGAF branding which encourages women to just be themselves and boldly follow their dreams - whatever those dreams are.
While we’re talking about people nailing their personal brands, I believe there’s also someone else who’s a total authority on this one - ahem… yours truly! Just try to think about rolling stones mouths, purple or the word ‘slay’ without thinking of me… go on, I dare you!
The reason why I sell the F out of every single thing I launch and I have people lining up to buy my shit, the reason why I was able to grow my business past the million dollar mark only a few years in, is largely because of my Slay Coach persona. Like the other women I’ve mentioned here, I am constantly reinventing myself and my persona as my business, what I’m passionate about and my life evolves.
